Awarded CBA

Its been some time now since we posted our awarded bids. Lately we have been repairing and finishing a CBA ( Christian brothers automotive )building in Owasso. The GC had some trouble with the original masons as well as a second crew of masons. We have been going over all the loose ends and repairing and fixing and finishing high walls and arches and peak gables. Removing stone and straightening what ever the Supt whats us to fix. We are installing the precast and key stones. Lots of block cells needed to be filled with grout. Also, performing cut outs for beams, water locations etc. There is lots of undone projects and repairing. Maybe we could actually get the next one without being beat out of our bid. I understand budgets have to be carefully looked at but the masonry for the exterior should never be shorted on budget for this is what you will be seeing everyday. As for this building the masonry was also the structural frame. Tip of the day, hire skilled masons. I know skilled masons out there like to charge fair price or some would say hefty price but obviously cheap bids never finish the job without some sort of problem. Masonry is one of the hardest and toughest jobs out there. Scaling, measuring, thinking ahead, multi-tasking, the right experience, Equipment and maintenance, reading blueprints, project material estimating, lots of discipline and of course safety first. All of what mention has to do with cost along with taxes and lots of business insurance as well as well paid employees.
